DCO prices strengthen as output, ethanol production decline on week
Prices for US animal fats and oils held steady to higher on Wednesday January 29, with much of the day's trade concentrated in the distiller’s corn oil (DCO) markets.
In the week to Friday January 24, the soybean crush margin in Central Illinois increased by 14% week on week and by 5% year on year, according to the USDA’s National Weekly Grain Co-Products Report released on Monday January 27.
In the week to Friday, soybean meal prices rose to $320.90 per short ton, up by 7% week on week from $300.70 per ton but down by 14% year on year.
Soybean prices increased to $10.56 per bushel, up by 2% week on week from $10.38 per bu but down by 14% from a year earlier.
Soybean oil prices fell to 44.54 cents per lb, down by 0.5% week on week from 44.78 cents per lb and down by 8% year on year.
The rise in soybean meal prices led to a crush margin of $2.16 per bu, up 4 cents per bu compared with the six-week average of $2.12 per bu.
