US weekly average ethanol production decreased to 1.081 million barrels per day in the week to February 21, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) report released on Wednesday February 26. Production was down by 3,000 bpd from the previous week but up by 0.3% year on year.
Ethanol stocks surged to 27.571 million barrels, marking the highest level since April 2020, up by 1.35 million barrels week on week and up by 6% year on year.
Demand for corn fell by 0.3% from the previous week but was up by 0.3% year on year. Approximately 16.015 million bushels of corn per day were used for ethanol production.
Livestock feed production totaled 115,600 tonnes in the week to Friday. Distillers’ dried grain with solubles (DDGS) production was 102,812 tonnes, with the remaining amount consisting of 10,790 tonnes of corn gluten feed and 1,998 tonnes of corn gluten meal.
