Market Activity

Trading was very quiet to close out the week. Cattle kills took a bit of a breather this week, down 10,000 head from last week. With that stated, slaughter at 610,000 head is still strong and very strong for January. The heavy kills put the risk in the market for lower prices in the ruminant products, but very favorable values to soybean meal should help mitigate the downward pressure from the supply side.
