Gary Gagnon is the Hide and Leather Editor at the Jacobsen. He has been with the company since 2008 and brings extensive experience in the Hides market, both fiscal and handson. He manages the daily publication of the of the Jacobsen North American Hide Bulletin/Price Guide and weekly International Hide Bulletin/Price Guide. He is also an expert speaker regarding the state of the industry, trends, and market projections.
Before joining the Jacobsen team, Gary was both the vice president and general manager of the Prime Tanning Corporation in St. Joseph, Missouri. There he managed all facets of operations and facilities of the St. Joseph wet blue tannery, including manufacturing, product quality, customer relations, labor relations, union contract negotiation, business development, community/regulatory relations, and hide procurement.
Gary attended the University of Southern Maine and Missouri Western State University, as well as Southern Maine Technical College. He was a member of the American Leather Chemist’s Association, served on the Heartland Health System Community Health Plan Quality Review Committee, and held chairs on numerous other committees. He is married with three children and operates a 220-acre Northwest Missouri farm.
