Fluctuating Demands for Animal Fat Usage in Biodiesel

Fluctuating Demands for Animal Fat Usage in Biodiesel

Animal fat usage for biodiesel production has been steadily increasing as production technologies have improved. Fat usage peaks in the summer when cloud point issues aren’t as much of a concern as they are during the cold, winter months. Over the last year, usage has become more volatile as availability and demand have fluctuated. Buyers have become more price sensitive and have the ability to switch feedstocks much more easily than in the past and more buyers are able to take advantage of cheaper prices or exclude material when prices become too high.
