Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
Heating oil prices climbed 2.3 cents to 1.476 per gallon, taking some of the pressure off rising soybean oil prices, which are up nearly 100 ticks or a penny a pound over the past two days. The run up in soybean oil prices has elevated the BOHO from the mid-90 cents range to just over a dollar per gallon. Today’s move higher in HO values pulled the BOHO back to $1 per gallon.
