Biodiesel production and El Niño play a part in soybean oils escalating price

We have started off 2016 with a biodiesel mandate in place, not only for 2016 but for 2017. The 2016 D4 Biomass based-diesel mandate calls for roughly a 10% increase in biodiesel/renewable diesel usage from 2015.  In 2015, the mandate called for 1.73 billion gallons of biodiesel and renewable diesel to be blended in with diesel. In 2016, this amount moves to 1.9 billion gallons….
