The US hide market remains quiet, trading at prices close to last week’s trading range. Despite a few suppliers not putting out any offer lists and some lists smaller, there are plenty of hides for sale—especially wet blue, heifers, and jumbo Texas steer hides. The market is in the pre-fair mode with people traveling and others waiting for face-to-face meetings before they buy, which should keep activity slower than normal this week.
