By most accounts, the US hide market activity this week seems to be slower than normal with fewer bids than last week. Sources report the strong US dollar continues to plague overseas buyers who contend it is making hides cost 7% or 8% more against currencies like the RMB. While this is a factor for those selling in domestic markets, for export companies selling finished goods back in the US, it tends to not be an issue.
