THE JACOBSEN NORTH AMERICAN HIDE BULLETIN

Market Activity & Analysis

As reported in today’s release of the USDA export report, cured and wet blue sales dropped sharply with total sales at 339,262 from 635,836 the prior week. Shipments, on the other hand, were more stable at 555,666 from 538,372. The same week (#35 ending August 31) slaughter was 622,000. It is possible that the logistics of the amount of people away for the ACLE contributed to the low sales numbers which, if is the case, will show up next week.
