Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
Resistance to higher prices cooled the hide market last week with sales down from the previous week and steer prices relatively steady with a few top-end selections $0.50 to $1 higher. Packer HNS sold from $61 to $62, BBS from $57 to $58 and HTS from $48.50 to $51 FOB plant. Cow hides, especially brands, continued to be soft with some bid prices shadowing South American material.
