Week 15 Actual Slaughter

Week 15 Actual Slaughter

Market Activity & Analysis

The US hide market has concluded the week with little change and steady direction. The business occurring is at moderate volumes and seems as if the drive to buy is to keep inventory at somewhat usual levels. The lower slaughter figures also contribute to this price standstill. Big packer steer quotes included HNS from $25, BBS from $18 to $23, BS at $13, and CBS at $17 and HTS at $18 FOB plant.

Week-Ending Slaughter

The week’s estimated cattle slaughter was 469,000. The previous week’s kill was 502,000 and the corresponding week last year it was 642,000. Year-to-date slaughter at 10.159 million is down 1.9% from 2019 levels.
