Hemp regulations continue to have a profound influence on the market’s growth.  The development of regulations for hemp cultivation remains very much a work in progress, and regulations to address CBD in the marketplace are MIA.  Some states have stepped up to fill the vacuum, like the personnel at Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, who discovered a retail hemp extract to contain lead last month, early on in their sampling efforts.

 

One of the issues not yet resolved is the THC content in extracts, as mentioned several times in previous Hemp Bulletins.  Some states regulate extraction operations, primarily states with existing cannabis extraction activity, but many do not.  Extracts can easily contain over 3% THC, more than 10 times the allowable limit.  Oregon based Key Compounds provides a sneak preview of the fallout one might experience if a…
