Product Testing for Safety and Accuracy

 

Safety testing of ingestible cannabinoid products is essential to the long-term health of the industry.  In May, a Florida company recalled lead tainted product discovered through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) newly instituted random testing of retail CBD products. Last week, FDACS announced that a number of other contaminated products were discovered by their efforts.  The contamination was said to be of “toxic waste” proportions, with up to 18ppb of lead, over 3 times that allowed.  Neither brands nor product types were included in the announcement, but the official in charge of Florida’s hemp program, Holly Bell, speculated that glass bottles and droppers – typically sourced from China – were suspect. …
