Covid-19 has been very relevant in this market, as several frigorificos do not slaughter due to suspicious cases. Tanneries continue to reluctantly receive few hides. In view of this situation, the Argentina National Government eliminated tariffs that govern the export of leather for 60 days, through Decree 549/2020 published this week in the Official Gazette.

In addition, the activity of tanneries was incorporated without restrictions as essential, for the purposes of the emergency and in order to exempt those who carry out tasks in the field.
