Argentine beef exports totaled 84 thousand tons equivalent carcass (TEC) in May, 25% more than in April and almost the same difference with respect to May 2019.

At the same time, they were very close to the 90 thousand TEC monthly average achieved in the last quarter of 2019, the record figure of many decades.

Chinese purchases were decisive in this development, reaching more than 51 thousand shipping weight (75 thousand TEC), the absolutely highest monthly record. It beat December shipments, which were the previous record.

Slaughter continues high and sustained.

Good quality Buenos Aires wet salted heavy steers remain quoting at about US$0.04 per kg.
