Crop Progress – Corn & Soybean Conditions Improve 

Corn:

  • 59 percent silking
  • 9percent dough
  • 69percent good to excellent; 8 percent poor to very poor

The corn crop has seen 59 percent of the fields has reach the silking stage and nine percent is in the dough stage. Crop conditions went unchanged over the past week. 69 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent and eight percent is rated poor to very poor. On a state level, Pennsylvania and North Carolina saw the steepest drop in crops rated good to excellent, while larger corn producing states like Illinois and Kansas experienced gains in the good to excellent category. This year’s crop is on par with last year’s ratings that showed 68 percent good to excellent and 13 percent poor to very poor.
