Ruminant and porcine MBM prices traded higher today. Holiday tightness and a well-valued market versus soybean meal has contributed to the upswing in price. Over the last five years, ruminant MBM has traded higher in September just once. Prices have averaged $17.13 lower in September relative to August over the last ten years. Cattle slaughter is forecast to tighten over the next six weeks and the late, Labor Day holiday may help keep prices buoyed for the first half of the month.
