November 12

In October, 1.26 million cattle were slaughtered, up 1% since September but down 3% year-on-year comparison.

This is the fourth month of the year lagging behind the same month of 2019. However, the daily average slaughter was 6% higher than last September and in October 2019.

By taking advantage of the postponed wet salted hides export rate until the end of the year, some estimate that in 2020 Argentina will export around 2 million wet salted hides.

Due to the resumption in automotive upholstery and the growth in residential furniture upholstery, demand on good quality Buenos Aires wet salted heavy steers increased, quoting now somewhat upwards from last week at about US$0.20 per kg.

There continues to be minimal demand for light-weighted cattle hides.
