Slaughter is slowing and producing less hides than during December.

There are bids for higher priced steers that are bringing the bids for light weight hides up. There haven’t been any price increases yet, but the direction seems to be moving that way. Good quality Buenos Aires wet salted heavy steers remain unchanged from the last weeks, quoting at about US$0.24 per kg.

Demand is firm for large auto and upholstery leathers. On the other hand, the shoe industry continues to be very quiet.

Uncertainty continues as the increase in COVID-19 cases suspend some leather shipments in some countries.
