Chinese Lunar New Year Start Slows Cattle Hide Markets

The US hide market concludes the sluggish week with a mixed bag of reports. Steers, with the exception of Heavy Native Steers, continue trading under downward pressure and are at risk of more depressed prices. Cows prices are firm, with a number of higher reports on selections used for upholstery tanning and footwear. Next week, many customers will be continuing their Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations, so trading is expected to be quiet.
