European Automotive Finished Leather Prices Still Low

European Automotive Finished Leather Prices Still Low

March 4

Slaughter is unchanged from last week.

Good quality Buenos Aires wet salted heavy steers continue quoting upwards from last weeks, now at about US$0.40~0.45 per kg.

This price is very firm because, according to pundits, there are no wet salted hides left, therefore wet salted exporters have entered into the raw fresh market as well.

Demand continues to be stable for footwear and leather goods and firm for automobiles.

While the slaughter pace is back to normal, raw fresh green hides have already increased 100% from week 2 to 7.

Some believe there still is strong demand to export wet salted hides, which could be motivating the firmness of the raw hides market.

Feedlots continue decreasing their supply, which increases the field fattening with pastures.
