Brazilian Hide Exports Up 12 Percent Year-Over-Year for February

February slaughter was reported at 1.04 million head, up 2 percent from January and also up 4 percent on YoY comparison.

Slaughter continues unchanged from last week.

Good quality Buenos Aires wet salted steers continue quoting upwards from last weeks, now at about US$0.50 per kg. The increase is motivated mainly by the continuity of raw wet salted hide exports. 

Demand remains unchanged.

March 4

Slaughter is unchanged from last week.

Good quality Buenos Aires wet salted heavy steers continue quoting upwards from last weeks, now at about US$0.40~0.45 per kg.

This price is very firm because, according to pundits, there are no wet salted hides left, therefore wet salted exporters have entered into the raw fresh market as well.

Demand continues to be stable…
