The emergence of the hemp industry has been closely tied to existing cannabis markets. No surprise, since THC content is the only attribute separating the two major types of Cannabis spp. – at least from a legal standpoint. The reality is that cannabis exists on a broad spectrum with stout, resinous, cannabinoid rich hemp on one end, and leggy fiber types at the other. This botanical connection does not imply one in the greater marketplace, where hemp prices are independent of existing MJ markets.
There is appreciable overlap in the pan-cannabis sector though, in regard to the science, technology, marketing conventions, packaging, vendors, and overall business culture.
