Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
A Dow Jones survey of ethanol analysts expects ethanol production to climb and ethanol stocks to fall. Expectations are that tomorrows report will show up to a 20,000 barrel a day increase in production. If achieved, production would be at a two-week high of 961 thousand barrels a day. Analysts are also forecasting a decline in ethanol stocks to anywhere between 20.15 million barrels to 20.47. Should stocks decline, this will be the fourth consecutive week that stocks moved lower.
Corn growing states have 17 of 18 states reporting progress, cotton states are up to 9 of 15 reporting, and soybeans and peanuts released their first progress report. Two percent of the corn crop has emerged. USDA March planting intentions for corn are 91.1 million acres. The…
