US Hide Market Begins Week With Little Trading Activity

The US hide market began the week with little activity. Butt Branded Steers were reported lower, returning to Thursday’s trading levels. Many buyers continue to show interest to buy but are pushing for lower prices due to their plentiful hide inventories.

The Jacobsen slaughter forecast for this week is 655,000 head, and if realized, will be 83,500 head more than the same week last year when it was 571,500.
