Summer Friday Publication Hours in Effect — Trade Reporting Deadline 12 p.m. CST Tomorrow

The Jacobsen will be implementing summer Friday publication hours tomorrow (Friday, May 28) through Labor Day. The deadline for trade reporting will be at 12 p.m. CST with publication of the Hide & Leather Price Guide/Commentary soon after.

Demand from China was strong today on an array steer selections at higher prices. Some traders have reported reduced interest for premium selections and lower sales volumes, but one packer reported decent interest on Heavy Native Steer and Butt Branded Steer for June delivery. There is a lot of interest for Heavy Texas Steer, Colorado Branded Steer and Branded Heifers driven by shoe tanners in China. However, there is limited supply for the demanded steer material and leather prices continue to resist the increases in raw material prices.
