Slaughter Forecast Higher Ahead of July 4 Holiday

The long holiday weekend put an expected cut into the cattle harvest numbers last week and the downtime at JBS further exacerbated the production cuts. Slaughter fell to an estimated 538,000 head last week, down 14.5 percent from the week prior. Production is expected to pick back up this week. Slaughter this week is forecast at 660,000 head and the weeks leading up to the July 4th break are estimated at an average of 657,500 head.
