Hemp Fiber Production Essential to Jumpstarting Demand

Hemp fiber production in the US has expanded this year to accommodate new processing capacity in the Great Plains.  We look forward to updating Hemp Bulletin readers later this year as these facilities start to process their first hemp fiber crops.   Raw hemp fiber is not a liquid market, demand has yet to materialize. Current efforts to produce hemp fiber are essential for fostering buyer confidence. 

These first movers are well out ahead of the pack, assuming considerable risk to help jump start a supply chain.  Production needs to occur prior to any significant demand materializing.  This will make for several messy years in hemp fiber markets, with siloed production and mispatched supply and demand.  Production and primary processing will require patience and financial commitment as operators work to solve a host of problems.  We continue to believe that federal funding could…
