Steer and heifer trading were reported today. Steer hides remain unchanged from last traded levels, but Branded Heifers were booked up $6. With little supplier offers, business was at limited volumes. Some buyers have strong demand which justifed paying for material at current or higher prices, but other buyers were not able to keep paying at the current market. Buyer resistance is growing.

For week ending July 22, export sales for 2021 marketing year decreased 31 percent to 439,361 from 634,086 and shipments decreased 23 percent to 550,859 from 711,115. Sales for marketing year 2021 totaled 15,161,471—mostly all hides. The average year-to-date weekly trends for federally inspected slaughter were 638,825, total export sales were 522,809 and total export shipments were 509,135.
