Trading was mostly steady in the Australian and New Zealand markets this week. Tight supplies continue to offer price support at higher levels. Increasing demand from the US market, both in terms of the quantity demanded as well as the number of companies demanding tallow, is also offering support for higher prices in the short term.
Energy prices continue to move higher in the European market and UCOME has not been exempt. The higher UCOME prices have contributed to higher UCO prices with trading DDP Northwest Europe indicated over €1200 (~$1400) this week. Cat 3 and edible prices have moved higher as well on tight supplies and support from higher priced palm.
The North American market has been very quiet this week with a number of market participants in Nashville, TN for the annual American Fats and Oils Association meeting.
