Refiners Recap on Renewable Diesel and RFS for the Third Quarter of 2021
PBF Energy was among the first refiners to report third quarter earnings and provide insight to potential renewable diesel projects as well as thoughts on the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). PBF Energy President Matt Lucey announced the company will continue to pursue plans for a renewable diesel project located adjacent to the Chalmette refinery. “The project will seek to maximize the benefits of Chalmette’s strategic location on the Gulf Coast with its excellent access to water, rail, and truck logistics as well as our synergistic California logistics footprint,” said Lucey.
Internal discussions with partners indicate the Chalmette RD project would have approximately 20,000 barrel per day capacity, or 300 million gallons per year. Costs related to RFS are one of the main drivers for pursuing the program.
