Biodiesel Imports Slow, Renewable Diesel Imports

 

Marathon Petroleum, HollyFrontier, and Seaboard Corporation Update Q3 Renewables Outlook

Marathon continues to move forward with their renewable diesel goals and has updated progress that has been made during the thrid quarter of 2021.

The Dickinson North Dakota renewable fuels facility, which began operation at the end of 2020, reached full design operating capacity in the second quarter of 2021. The facility has the capacity to produce 184-million-gallons per year of renewable diesel.  Feedstocks used at the Dickinson plant include corn oil, soybean oil, fats, and greases.

On August 19, 2021, Marathon announced an agreement to form a joint venture with ADM to produce soybean oil to supply the rapidly growing demand for renewable diesel. The joint venture will own and operate ADM’s previously announced soybean processing complex in Spiritwood, North Dakota.  ADM will own 75 percent of the joint venture.  When…
