Small College’s Serve Important Role in Emerging Hemp Sector

All of cannabis presents a massive blind spot for researchers, having been closely controlled for so many years.  Only now the DEA is opening up production of research MJ at universities other than Mississippi State, the only university allowed to produce MJ over previous decades.

Colleges and universities have a pivotal role in advancing both research and qualified individuals to occupy key roles within industry.  Land Grant College’s like Cornell, UK, OSU, NC State, and others serve specialized roles in research for agronomy, plant breeding, and animal science that can explore important issues like pharmacokinetics or livestock performance on hemp feeds.

Large universities have research farms that generally focus on regionally important crops/species, but innovation is not always one of the aims to research.  Small colleges serve an important role in providing hands-on experience for students.
