Minor cannabinoids are facing additional headwinds in Oregon, where regulators are interpreting Oregon law such that CBN can only be sold through dispensaries. CBN is commonly used in sleep aids, and it represents one of the higher liquidity minor cannabinoid markets, with consistent demand.
Oregon is still reeling from cartel-backed illicit cannabis production there this summer. The state has never encountered such a widespread exploitation of policy to produce and distribute black market MJ.
This and ∆8-THC have had political implications in Oregon and absent any comprehensive understanding of CBN stemming from research, state officials are playing it safe. State regulators and lawmakers were told ∆8 was not intoxicating either, which has evolved into ‘intoxicating, but with caveats’.
