New York’s Clever Cannabis Policy

States continue to chart their own course with cannabis policy.  New York’s MJ industry is anticipated to generate billions of dollars in a few years and the state continues to set the bar for progressive cannabis policy. 

Cannabis is the appropriate moniker in the case of New York; the state has chosen to consolidate all cannabis oversight, both sides of the THC divide, under the Office of Cannabis Management.  This unique approach is one we’ve written about before, because the approach is novel, and because New York’s economy is one of the top 3 in the US. 

Another novel benefit to hemp farmers specifically, is the opportunity to get a head start on producing MJ for New York’s adult use MJ program.  New York policymakers have the benefit of other states’ experience, and in some cases, data to support the potential demand scenarios expected statewide.
