Hide Buyers Anticipate More Leather Orders in Summer

Hide Buyers Anticipate More Leather Orders in Summer

Another quiet day of hide trading, but interest is expected to come after packers release offer lists tonight. The majority of already received interest was at decent price levels and good volume. Sellers believe they will be able to bring customers up to current market levels and, dependent on the selection and demand, possibly slightly higher.

Buyers are anticipating leather orders to come by time the shipment is received if they buy now. Several buyers have begun to build inventory at the low, current market pricing.

Low-end cows continue to go to gelatin producers because the cost to process is insufficient for hide seller’s profit margins.
