Changing cannabis laws and shifting societal sentiments have upended illicit drug policies for companies operating across jurisdictions.  About half of U.S. states now allow recreational cannabis use for adults.

Tight labor markets are also accelerating the policy shift in U.S. companies.  The historical methods of discovering workers intoxicated on the job fall short of their intended purpose.  Drug tests can indicate cannabis usage from weeks prior.
