Holiday Week Slows Cattle Production & Hide Trading

**No Bulletin/Price Guide Published on Tuesday, July 4

Hide trading was slow ahead of the Fourth of July holiday in the U.S. Sellers reported trading over the weekend at steady price levels with the exception of Colorado branded steers, which were down $1 of the regular weight packer selection.

After high cattle production numbers last week, the availability of popular hides is likely to increase. Branded steers and butt branded steers are two of the most in demand selections from buyers.

Geopolitical tension between the U.S. and China continues to increase as the U.S. State Department released a travel advisory on Friday, stating American travelers were at risk of wrongful detention. The U.S. hide market continues unphased but concerned with greater trading challenges.
