Buying activity was active today with the majority of interest from Chinese and Mexican tanners. Automotive tanners were actively inquiring in the market today after receiving increases in leather order volumes from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for August. The demand from the automotive industry for heavy native steers (HNS) drove up prices this week and packers try to negotiate prices up another $0.50.
