2023 Farm Bill an Opportunity to Normalize Hemp Production

As Farm Bill discussions take center stage, hemp stakeholders are looking to lawmakers for key policy changes needed to make a viable hemp sector.  The effort to separate industrial grain and fiber crops from cannabinoid-rich hemp is a major priority for the emerging cohort of grain and fiber producers.

Hemp is a product of the Farm Bill, emerging from 2018 Farm Bill discussions as a federally legal crop, vis-à-vis the Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018.  Chaos ensued, as legal cannabis of any flavor sent most states frantically legislating to accommodate the new crop, in most cases not understanding the implications for MJ enforcement.
