Some sectors were blindsided by the extraordinary demand that arose from widespread lockdowns.  Boats, recreational vehicles, cars, and toilet paper are just a few of the items that sellers could not get enough of.  The frustrating powerlessness to serve this explosive demand was a stark lesson for manufacturers.
