Mastercard Demands Merchants Steer Clear of Cannabis

Late last month, MasterCard demanded U.S. based merchant services cease transactions for legal marijuana.  Nearly all legal cannabis dispensaries selling marijuana in states where it is legal rely solely on cash.  Most of them have their own debit machines in the store.

Some shops have been able to process Mastercard debit card payments by offering customers the option to utilize their PIN number.  With so many new dispensary businesses around the country, merchant services are struggling to keep up with who is selling what, and how.
