Hemp Gains Representation on USDA Trade Committees

The process of normalizing hemp as an agricultural commodity is lengthy.  Following the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill legalizing hemp, a vast constellation of federal agencies, state agencies, and entire industries, like banking, scrambled to adjust to the new cannabis landscape.

The USDA has held a pivotal position as the agency overseeing the domestic hemp production program.  Its role is as varied as it is crucial.  The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), and the Risk Management Agency (RMA) all have central roles in overseeing or developing the hemp industry
