Steepest Drop in 50 Weeks for LCFS Spot Price

Weekly LCFS credit volume began its cyclical trend higher last week, while the average price paid per credit moved lower. Spot market prices experienced the largest weekly decline in nearly a year. Transaction volume is expected to remain heavy, increasing through October. The next LCFS reporting period ends October 2, 2023, with a publication date of October 31, 2023.

2023 LCFS credit volume was 4.1 million above 2022 volume through the same period but generated $936 million less in revenue. The average 2023 credit price of $76.20 was fifty-nine percent below the 2022 average of $121.10. LCFS credit volume was higher, but due to deflated credit prices, revenue is at multi-year lows.
