Prices in the fats market continued to slide on Thursday with lower trading seen in many of the markets today across nearly all products. Tallow traded lower into the Gulf, down a ½ cent from the last traded level at 66.5 cts/lb. Choice white grease traded down on an FOB basis across the country. Traded volume has soared this week with truck volume at approximately 500% of the lower levels seen in some of weeks this summer. The extra volume and well bought nearby buyers on top of a steep drop in RIN values is a big driver of the precipitous drop in the CWG market this week.
Yellow grease prices were down today, pressured both by lower UCO and CWG values. Distiller’s corn oil traded down out of the KS/NE market with some trading reported below and above the printed range. Many in the market were calling the nearby FOB values at 64 bid on a 67 offer, but there was not a lot of truck trading reported today.Trading into the Gulf was done at 70-70.5 cts/lb delivered.
