Sources reported a lack of trading activity in the hide market today, with no new reports. Market participants continue to express their concerns about the weak demand for leather.

U.S. Cattle Slaughter 2021-2023

From January to October the total number of cattle slaughtered under federal inspection in the U.S. was 27.6 million head in 2021, 28.1 million head in 2022, and 27 million head in 2023. Compared to the previous years, the values for 2023 showed a decrease of 4.2 percent from 2022 and 2.2 percent from 2021.
