Trading was active today, with steer prices reported at firmer levels whereas cow hide selections were steady with last reported levels. Several market players stated that most sales this week were at lower than current market price levels, though in smaller volumes. 

A few buyers have speculated steer hide inventories are growing based on the low export figures, detailed below. The next two weeks are expected to be slower during the end of the year holiday season. Over the next week and this upcoming weekend, the buildup of inventory may encourage sellers to move more steer material at slightly lower or steady price levels.
