Overall hide trading was active this week ahead of the Christmas holiday closure. A US packer reported large volumes of steer hides were sold this week as well as a decent volume of cow hides. Some sellers reported ongoing negotiations will be carried into the weekend but for a limited volume of material.
Regular weight Branded Steer and Branded Heifer hides returned to midweek price levels after yesterday’s $1.50/piece and $1/piece increase, respectively. Jumbo weight Colorado Branded Steer hides also returned to Wednesday’s price levels after yesterday’s $1.50/piece increase.
