Cattle Slaughter Projected to Drop Below 2022 Levels This Week

**Please Note — There will be no International prices or commentary released this Thursday ahead of the New Year’s holiday. The Jacobsen will close trading at 1pm CT on Friday, Dec 29 and will be closed Monday, Jan 1.**

Following the Christmas holiday closure, sellers reported minimal activity over the weekend and at the start of this short trading week.
The steer hide trades were reported for small volumes of material. Jumbo weight Heavy Native Steer (HNS) hides traded $1/piece down, light weight Butt Branded Steer (BBS) hides traded $0.50/piece down, and regular weight BBS hides traded $1/piece lower from Friday’s close. Branded Steer (BRS) hides traded $1/piece lower than Friday’s close.
Carryover bids were communicated as lower than current market levels.
Packers may release offer lists tonight, but also may delay to tomorrow evening due to the later start to the trading week.
